Pet Breeders in the State of Texas
Pet Breeders in the State of Texas - you are about to embark on a journey that you do not want to go on. However, you must take this journey in order to save and improve the pet breeding industry that you love so dearly. Like it or not, H$U$ and other groups like them are marching their way across this great country of ours in their efforts to stop Animal Agriculture across the board. They will use any and all tactics, no matter what! Remember, they will try to use our youth, and are very active in the public schools systems of our country. They start with the pet breeding industry, and will not stop at just that. If allowed to succeed in this move, they will move on to other Animal Agriculture areas-such as cattle or horses or who knows what will be next. But they will not stop. They are lobbying for legislation that they know will hurt each and every pet breeder in the great state of Texas, just as they have done in several other states. For many of you, this is your livelihood. For others, it may be a supplement to your income. But it is you, the Pet Breeder, they are attacking, so you must take the journey of stopping them.
There is only one way to stop them, and that is with a united front of great numbers. Whether you are a member of the Coalition, Responsible Pet Owners Association (RPOA), or the Professional Canine Breeders Association (PCBA), a Hobby Breeder, a Commercial Breeder, or simply a pet owner and lover, you must stay vigilant about ongoing legislation. There will be a great deal of proposed legislation in the coming year for you. You will need to make decisions as to whether these bills will be beneficial or harmful to your industry. Will it be better to try to stop the proposed legislation, modify it, or simply start all over. You will need to determine who has the best interest and welfare of you, the breeders, at heart. Follow the money trail to find out where the backing and support is really coming from.
You may all have the same goal, but you must work together to achieve that goal. Contact your Congressmen and respectfully address the issues that are of concern to you. Your capital of Austin has already passed the ordinance banning the retail sales of dogs and cats. However, there are issues with the wording of the Ordinance and the exclusion of rescue shelters. This is only the beginning. It will not stop, unless you unite and develop an effective plan to combat unfair legislation. The key will lie in numbers, as the more people your Congress hears from, the more they will pay attention. Whether it is a letter campaign, phone campaign, or an email campaign, the more, the better. In your plan, offer constructive alternatives to what they are proposing and facts for why and what you are opposing. Think about what happened in Missouri with Proposition B. It will be the larger cities in your great state that will present the problem. They will have a different perception of pet breeders than people who live in rural areas.
