Representative Barbara Sears (R, Lucas County) has introduced HB 14, her bill to drop "pit bulls" from Ohio vicious dog law. This is a re-introduction of a similar bill in the last session. It is especially noteworthy that Mrs Sears represents the county that is most notorious for its war against all breeds and mixes of the pit bull type.

The bill itself did not move in the last session, but the language was rolled into another bill that included changes in penalties for animal cruelty, gave the court discretion to order counseling for minors convicted of animal cruelty, and added family pets to domestic protection orders. That bill passed the House and did not get a Senate vote.
